What the hell Is this?
Midnight Ink is a bi-monthly sequential art
anthology.
More specifically, Midnight Ink is a collection
of stories by various writers and artists with a variety of styles, which
is published once every two months. Contributors are not expected to
submit replicas of mainstream comic books and we don't expect the book to
be full of Stan Lee wannabe's. We prefer something different; different
style types, different storylines, different formats. Midnight Ink is for anyone who can write and/or draw
sequential art/graphic novel material. The stories can be based on
homeless vampires taking over the world
or the philosophies of extraterrestrial plant life
being shipped to mining camps on a dusty, yellow planet in a foreign
galaxy. There are almost no limits to the kinds of stories that
can/will be published in the book. We DO NOT accept stories that appear to
condone racism, homophobia, sexism, or porn.
This does not mean that your story can't contain them, it just means that
we will not accept a submission that portrays those kinds of things in a
positive light.
There are 4 different types of submissions
that Midnight Ink publishes:
1. Serial- a story that has 2 or more episodes.
(between 5 and 10 pages long)
2. Feature- a story that has only 1 episode.
(between 5 and 15 pages long)
3. Filler- a one page strip or several one-page
strips centering on one story/theme.
(like comic strips; not necessarily funny)
4. Cover Art- Artwork, logos, and designs made
for the front and back cover of the book.
(may include table of contents)

Midnight Ink is published by Tainted Muse Publishing (whose sole project at the moment
is Midnight Ink). The money earned from
selling each issue of M I will go toward
publishing the next issue. No one makes a profit off M
I in any way, except comic retailers. Currently, we are not able to
offer monetary compensation to either submittors to M
I or staff members of Tainted Muse Publishing.
Submittors are given at least one copy of the issue in which their
submission has appeared. Staff members of TMP are
given at least one copy of each issue which they actively helped to
publish. As Midnight Ink grows we hope to be
able to offer submittors and staff members monetary compensation for their
hard work and effort.
Midnight Ink will be 8 1/2"
x 11" - submissions must fit into a 7 1/2" x
10" window). Issues will be published bi-monthly (every two
months) beginning August 1, 2004. Current plans
are to distribute Midnight Ink to comic book
stores in the United States and abroad. Issues will also be available for
purchase on this website. If you would like to help
distribute Midnight Ink in your area or know
someone who might, please contact Natalie.
Midnight Ink is not meant to rival single-story
comic books published by Marvel, DC Comics, etc. M
I is a chance for amateur writers and artists to see their work
published. A writer/artist who contributed two stories to M I wrote an introduction/thank you note for the
first issue. This note seemed to sum up the
feelings of the staff and contributors to that issue of M I. Hopefully, it will also help to give you a
better understanding of what the hell Midnight
Ink is all about...
